On 27 September 2024, the Australian Privacy Commissioner approved a variation to the Privacy (Credit Reporting) Code 2014 (version 2.3) (the CR Code).
This follows an application by the Australian Retail Credit Association (ARCA) on 19 December 2023 (and amendments to the application dated 19 September 2024) to vary the registered CR Code in accordance with section 26T of the Privacy Act 1988.
The amended Privacy (Credit Reporting) Code 2024 will commence on the day it is registered on the Federal Register of Legislation, when it will be published on the Codes Register, except where transitional periods have been specified.
