Upcoming FOI webinars – registrations open
Registrations are now open for two upcoming FOI webinars:
- Complaints
- Vexatious applicant declarations.
The Complaints webinar will be held on Tuesday 22 October from 10.00 am – 11.00 am AEST.
This will be a 1-hour session addressing the process for managing complaints lodged to the Information Commissioner.

Part 11 of the FOI Guidelines also provides information covering the complaints process.
The OAIC will host a webinar on Vexatious applicant declarations on Tuesday 19 November 2024 from 10.00 am – 11.00 am AEST. This 1-hour webinar will discuss the factors which the Information Commissioner may consider in deciding whether to make a vexatious applicant declaration, evidence which may be relevant to those considerations and the process for deciding applications under s 89L of the FOI Act.
Part 12 of the FOI Guidelines discusses the grounds for a declaration and considerations taken into account by the Information Commissioner in exercise of this power.

ANZSOG event: Australia's integrity landscape
Australian Information Commissioner Elizabeth Tydd will be leading a panel discussion for the National Regulators Community of Practice and Australia and New Zealand School of Government at an event in Sydney on Tuesday15 October.
The panel will consider: Australia’s integrity landscape – learning from the past and preparing for the future.
The panel discussion will also feature:
- Professor AJ Brown of Griffith University
- National Anti-Corruption Commissioner the Hon Paul Brereton AM RFD SC, and
- Commonwealth Ombudsman Iain Anderson
