An invitation to our IAID event
The OAIC is holding a special event for FOI practitioners for International Access to Information Day (IAID).
To be held on Wednesday 25 September at Old Parliament House in Canberra (9-12:30), you can attend in-person or online via livestream. Morning tea will be included.
The focus for the day is to explore best practice management of functions under the FOI Act, with presentations from:
- Elizabeth Tydd, Australian Information Commissioner
- Toni Pirani, Freedom of Information Commissioner
- Chris Fechner, Chief Executive Officer, Digital Transformation Agency
- Gayle Milnes, National Data Commissioner
- Amanda Cattermole PSM, Chief Executive Officer, Australian Digital Health Agency
All FOI practitioners (including state and territory) are welcome, space permitting, and key agency leaders have also been invited.
If you would like to attend, please email icon@oaic.gov.au by Friday 13 September, and indicate whether you wish to attend in person or remotely, and look out for our reply to confirm your registration.
This event is an opportunity to come together, to learn from one another and to show our appreciation to you for your work upholding information access rights and ensuring Australia’s participative democracy.
A range of IAID 2024 materials, including a poster, email signature banner and more, are available on our website. A toolkit with additional resource material will be available for agencies soon.
We hope that you can join us as we celebrate IAID 2024, and help bring to life this year's international theme of ‘mainstreaming access to information and participation in the public sector’.
IAID itself is on 28 September each year, and there will be other events to mark the day organised by state regulators, as well as the hybrid UNESCO event on 1-2 October.
You can also follow IAID social posts via #AccessToInfoDay and #IAID2024.
