The OAIC is currently in the process of publishing the current version of Chapter 1 of the APP Guidelines (APP 1 Open and transparent management of personal information) in HTML format. The OAIC will also be progressively updating this page to provide expanded guidance about open and transparent management of personal information, including about the new APP 1 obligations for automated decisions which commence on 10 December 2026 (subclauses 1.7, 1.8 and 1.9 of Schedule 1 to the Privacy Act made by the Privacy and Other Legislation Amendment Act 2024). In the meantime, for more information, including examples of the kinds of arrangements and decisions that would apply, please refer to Part 15—Automated decisions and privacy policies in the Privacy and Other Legislation Amendment Act 2024 (Cth) and the explanatory memoranda.
